"I Can Fix Myself"

Too often I think to myself

of the things I need to change.

Habits, thoughts, and actions past

that stink, my fetid mange.

Most would wash off easily

if I took initiative.

But it's harder when I'm labeled,

told guidelines of how I live.

They say they know me "all too well"

and in many ways they do.

but with personal introspection,

in more ways that's not true.

So despite the pattern time has told

I'll always look ahead.

I'm a Devil Dog, I can fix myself

with help from overhead.
